Adding your own radio stations

Radio functionality is provided by the Tunein Radio task where you are likely to find the radio station you want from the Tunein Radio's huge database. If the station you want does not exist in the database, ask Tunein Radio using their website to include the missing station and this would be usually added withing a few days. However there may be some situations where you still want to add your own radio station.

Using other media players

The easiest way to do this is by creating a playlist using one of your existing media players on your computer, such as Windows Media Player, Winamp or Real Player.

First you need to load your player with the radio station you want to save for SpeakOn. You can do this by either using the directories of radio stations which exist already in players such as Winamp, or you can go to one of the many websites which list internet radio stations. When you find the radio station you like in your browser, double click the link (press [Enter]) on it and the player which is assigned the media format will open and start playing. Please note that some radio stations use an embedded player in a web page and the technique described below will not work with these stations.

Next you need to save a playlist which contains a reference to the radio station you want SpeakOn to play. How to do that varies between players; for example

In both examples above, save the playlists to a folder that has been included in the SpeakOn Library Other media directory as described in the previous page of this tutorial.

You can, if you wish, put all your radio stations in this folder or you may wish to create sub-folders under this folder to organize your stations in the way you want.

Using manual editing

In some circumstances you may have already the URL (internet address) of the station, in which case, the easiest way is to use a text editor such as Notepad, create a file with the name of your choice with the extension .m3u and insert into this file the line containing the URL of the radio station. Again, save this file to the folder as mentioned above.
