In any media task, press the 'Menu' [Alt] (9) key to bring up the menu. You are automatically placed at the 'End task, return to Manager' menu item. Press the 'Select' [Enter] (5) key to end the task. You can also press * 'Nav' [Ctrl + F4] (0 + 1) to end the task. When you end a task, the focus is automatically placed back at the Manager.
In any media task you can start small tasks to do various operations such as finding something or adjusting settings. If you are in one of these tasks, you will need in most cases to end the small task first and then end the media task as described above. If in doubt, keep ending tasks from the Main menu until you are back in the Manager; regardless of where you are, it is unlikely that you will need to end more than two tasks to return to the Manager.
You will notice that the media task item you just used has moved to the top position (item number 1) in the Manager's list. This ensures that over time the media tasks you use most often are located near the top of the list making these quicker to start.
You can always add or remove plug-ins so that the Manager's list contains the media tasks you want as explained here
