Additional operations

The scientific mode offers operations and features in addition to those offered by the standard mode and these are described in this section.

Basic calculations, memory, variables and functions usage are identical to those described in the
Standard mode
and it is assumed that you have read already the relevant pages.

Scientific mode settings

You can set SpeakOn CalcPad to scientific mode, choose units for trigonometric angles and select the functions that appear in the Selector task using the
CalcPad settings task

SpeakOn CalcPad accepts calculations either in decimal or engineering notation. For example both 0.023 or 23e-3 are acceptable. By default results are in decimal notation so:
0.023 + 1
Result: 1.023 and
23e-3+1
Result: 1.023

You can toggle results in engineering notation On or Off by selecting from the Main menu:
Commands > Toggle results in engineering notation On or Off
Alternatively you can use the [F9] key shortcut.

If the results in engineering notation is turned On the calculation:
23e-3+1
appears as
Result: 1.023E0
