Audio Books

The Audio Books media directory enables you to listen to compressed files such as MP3, WMA, etc, as well as DAISY format books stored on your hard drive.

Formats supported

DAISY support - this is not a complete implementation of the DAISY standard but rather a practical implementation of the Audio DAISY 2.02 format such as the one used by RNIB in the UK and others. Multiple DAISY books on one CD are supported but DAISY books which span more than one CD are not supported yet. Some DAISY books, mainly distributed in North America, are protected by DRM; DRM is not supported by SpeakOn.

DAISY format version 2.02 book is identified by the ncc.html file.

The following audio file extensions are supported:
'.wav', '.mp3', '.ogg', '.wma', '.au', '.aiff', '.spx'

The following playlist file extensions are supported:
'.m3u', '.pls', '.wpl'
