Listening to music audio CDs

This page describes how to use audio CDs. Audio CDs are the standard format for distributing music and are those most commonly used in commercial CD players. An audio CD is split into tracks

The CD task should be running. To listen to CD audio media, insert an appropriate CD in your computer CD drive.

Move the focus to the Library media tree control if you are not already there by pressing the 'Focus' [Tab] (3) key. In the Library control, press the 'Left' [left arrow] (4) key a few times until you hear a beep and a message indicating that you are at the top level (level 0) of the tree. The focus is on the CD media directory. Press the 'Right' [right arrow] (6) key; the format of the CD is detected automatically and you are placed at the only item in this directory which is the audio playlist. Please note that the last operation may take a little time while the CD drive starts to spin.

To start to listen to the playlist, press the 'Select' [Enter] (5) key. The focus moves automatically to the Player control. The Player starts to play after some delay while the CD information, namely the album and track names are automatically retrieved from the internet. This information is available for most CDs but not for all. To stop playing, press the 'Select' key again.

With the 'Left' and 'Right' keys, you can select the media navigation unit. You can navigate between tracks by selecting the media navigation unit and then press the 'Up' or the 'Down' keys. Similarly you can navigate within a track by selecting from the 5 minutes, 1 minute, 15 seconds or 5 seconds navigation units and move within the track by pressing the 'Up' or 'Down' keys. You can do this after playing has stopped or during playing.

If you stop listening to the CD and come back to it later, the Player will start the music where you left off.
